Implementing a new partner relationship management (PRM) platform can be a larger undertaking that requires close collaboration between your PRM implementation team, channel consultants, as well as your internal partnership leaders and IT teams. Each successful PRM implementation will take a different path based on your organization's needs and the PRM tool itself. In general, though, the following PRM implementation checklist can give you a high-level idea of what to expect and will help you align your partnership and IT teams for a successful rollout. Your PRM Implementation Checklist + 10 Steps for Success 1. Run a needs assessment Before finalizing your PRM selection, define specific objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the implementation. Involve key stakeholders from your partnership, sales, IT, and other relevant teams to ensure that the PRM will support your organizational functions. 2. Collaborate closely with the experts Establish a close working collaboration with anyone who will be working on your implementation. This will include your software implementation team, your internal team, as well as any outside channel consultants. For example, Impartner's implementation team has an expert understanding of our PRM software. You'll be able to ask any questions about customization options, implementation steps, or timeline. A go-to-market expert, like Spur Reply, can also act as a strategic guide throughout implementation, providing support at every step from integration best practices and configuration to ongoing optimization. 3. Evaluate your current IT infrastructure While you may have already done this during the sales process, you'll need to assess your current IT infrastructure and existing tech stack to ensure it can support your new PRM. This includes verifying system requirements, assessing security protocols, and confirming integration capabilities with your existing tech stack. You'll also want to document any system update or implementation blackout dates your organization may have. 4. Plan for your data migration Create a schedule and plan to migrate data from your current systems to the new PRM. This may involve identifying the data to be migrated, cleansing it, and mapping the data fields to the new system. Remember to create a backup of your current data before proceeding with the migration. 5. Hook up your integrations A PRM like Impartner comes with purpose-built, seamless integrations with your customer relationship management (CRM) and other tools. Find the integrations available to you with your implementation team. Integrating systems may involve modifying interfaces, workflows, and access rights. 6. Start with testing You'll want to plan for a testing phase to ensure the PRM works as expected. This should include system testing to check software behavior, load testing in a live environment, integration testing to verify seamless data flow between systems, and user acceptance testing to ensure the software meets your users' needs. Testing should be done with matching data on any environments available, such as development (DEV), stage, or production (PROD).
