What is partner journey mapping?
Partner Journey Mapping is the process of creating a visual representation of the entire lifecycle a partner goes through when working with a vendor. From initial discovery and recruitment, through onboarding, activation, growth, renewal, and potential exit. This mapping identifies each interaction a partner has with the vendor’s systems, teams, and resources. It also highlights where partners may experience friction or unclear hand-offs, helping vendors recognize areas for improvement in how partners engage and progress.
By using partner journey mapping, organizations align internal processes, support systems and communications around how partners engage over time. This approach helps clarify transitions between lifecycle stages, ensure partners receive consistent and relevant experiences, and reduce delays or confusion. Over time journey mapping becomes a tool for continuous improvement, adapting as partner needs change, new market conditions emerge, and the partner program evolves, thereby supporting stronger partner engagement and predictable outcomes.
